Job Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Operating straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Planning and adjusting routes using GPS and other navigation equipment.
• Working as part of a two-person team or convoy when required.
• Loading and unloading goods.
• Carrying out pre-trip, en-route and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Checking tires, lights, brakes, refrigeration equipment and other vehicle components.
• Monitoring the overall condition of the truck.
• Receiving and communicating information with central dispatch.
• Paying for or collecting payments related to transported goods when required.
• Adjusting routes and driving practices to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• Between 1 and less than 7 months of relevant experience.
• English language ability.
• The ability to work on site in Surrey, British Columbia.
• The ability to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, nights and weekends.
