This is a practical field-based position rather than a design, sales or supervisory role. Candidates need to be comfortable working independently at customer locations and making technical decisions when responding to equipment problems.
The position also involves regular communication with client personnel, so technicians must be able to explain technical findings clearly and coordinate work around the customer’s operations.
Main Responsibilities
The successful technician will be responsible for:
- Performing planned and preventative maintenance
- Inspecting HVAC and refrigeration installations
- Servicing air handling units, chillers, compressors and condensers
- Maintaining cooling and ventilation systems
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and refrigerant-circuit faults
- Repairing equipment breakdowns
- Determining appropriate solutions independently while on site
- Ordering routine parts and materials required for assigned work
- Recording completed jobs digitally using a phone or tablet
- Reporting completed activities to the contract team
- Communicating directly with customer staff
- Explaining technical findings and answering client questions
- Coordinating work schedules with the contract administrator and service coordinator
- Assisting with larger maintenance projects
- Briefing subcontractors or colleagues when additional support is required
- Participating in a rotating standby and call-out schedule
The standby rota is expected to occur approximately one week every few weeks, during which the technician must be available to respond to breakdowns during evenings and weekends.
Required Experience
Applicants should have at least two years of practical, hands-on experience working with HVAC and/or refrigeration installations.
Relevant experience includes:
- Fault diagnosis
- Equipment servicing
- Preventative maintenance
- Mechanical repairs
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Refrigeration systems

Experience should demonstrate actual fieldwork rather than primarily design, sales or management responsibilities.

Accepted backgrounds include:
- Red Seal Trade Certificate
- Passed QCTO Trade Test in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- Millwright qualification
- Fitting and Turning qualification
- N4–N6 National Certificate in Refrigeration

- Have strong client-facing communication skills
The role requires technicians who can remain composed when dealing with equipment failures and time-sensitive service requests.
Netherlands Visa Sponsorship
The position is connected to the Dutch Kennismigrant (Highly Skilled Migrant) scheme.
The listing states that the successful technician will relocate to the Netherlands and work under a Dutch employment contract sponsored through this highly skilled migrant route.
However, candidates should understand that meeting the job requirements does not automatically guarantee immigration approval. The applicable Dutch immigration requirements and employer sponsorship conditions must also be satisfied.
The stated under-28 requirement is particularly important for applicants considering this vacancy and should be verified directly with the recruiter before applying.
Who Should Apply?
This vacancy may suit a technically qualified HVAC or refrigeration professional who has already developed practical field experience and wants to build a career in the Netherlands.
