About The Surgery, Stuart Road
The Surgery, Stuart Road is a GP and nurse training practice serving approximately 7,000 patients. The practice is conveniently located close to Pontefract town centre in West Yorkshire.
The clinical team includes:
- 2 GP Partners
- 6 Salaried GPs
- 2 Practice Nurses
- 1 Healthcare Assistant
- Additional staff employed through the local Primary Care Network
The practice also has a dedicated administrative and reception team of around 13 staff, supported by a Practice/Business Manager and Operations Manager.

What Will You Do?
The successful GP will provide clinical services across morning and afternoon sessions and may be required to participate in home visits and the practice duty/on-call rota.

Your responsibilities may include:
- Conducting face-to-face surgery consultations
- Providing telephone consultations
- Undertaking home visits
- Participating in the duty/on-call rota
- Reviewing and signing repeat prescriptions
- Responding to patient queries
- Managing clinical paperwork and correspondence
- Assessing patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions
- Making autonomous clinical decisions
- Identifying disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing appropriate care plans
- Providing health education and counselling
- Referring patients to appropriate healthcare providers
- Admitting or discharging patients from relevant caseloads
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
- Collecting information for clinical audits
- Issuing acute and repeat prescriptions electronically
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice formulary and clinical guidance
The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake the normal duties and responsibilities associated with working as a GP in primary care.

In addition to patient-facing clinical work, the role includes participation in practice administration and service development.

- Contribute to achieving Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and other relevant targets
- Ensure clinical information is appropriately coded
- Share non-patient-facing duties such as reviewing results and correspondence
- Remain on site throughout your clinical session
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings
- Participate in clinical evaluation and audits
- Contribute to the development of practice services
- Build effective working relationships with other local practices and NHS organisations

Salary and Annual Leave
