About the Role
The Public Health Staff Nurse will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme for children aged 0–5 and their families in the City and Hackney area.
Working under the supervision of qualified Health Visitors, the successful candidate will provide nursing care, support families and work with multidisciplinary teams and partner organizations to promote children’s health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support health visiting services for children aged 0–5 and their families.
- Deliver nursing care under appropriate supervision.
- Support the Healthy Child Programme.
- Work with Health Visitors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Work with statutory and community organizations.
- Promote the health and wellbeing of children and families.
- Support services aimed at reducing health inequalities.
- Participate in group activities and support sessions.
- Use client feedback to improve practice.
- Prioritize workloads and work independently where appropriate.
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality.
- Travel between community health locations as required.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A nursing diploma or degree-level qualification.
- Current NMC registration as an appropriate registered nurse, such as RN, RMN, RSCN or RNLD.
- Relevant experience working as a registered nurse.
- Experience working effectively within a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize workloads.
- Ability to work flexibly and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Knowledge of the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Understanding of the Healthy Child Programme.
- Awareness of current community and public health issues.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and professional development.
- Ability to travel independently between community health sites.
Experience working with children and families or in an inner-city environment would be an advantage.
