About the Position
The successful candidate will join an established Obstetrics & Gynaecology department and provide clinical care across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings.
The department offers services including infertility, gynaecological oncology, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, menopause care, vulval disease, urogynaecology, maternal and fetal medicine, minimal-access surgery and obstetric ultrasound.
Key Responsibilities
- Work 10 sessions per week within the department.
- Participate in the resident 1:7 on-call rota, including nights and weekends.
- Provide care across obstetric and gynaecological services.
- Participate in theatre and outpatient clinic rotations.
- Manage patients across emergency, inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Develop specialist clinical skills and contribute to specialist services.
- Participate in service reviews and improvement projects.
- Work closely with consultants, specialty doctors, trainees, midwives and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to teaching and professional development activities.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A primary medical qualification.
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- MRCOG Part 1 or equivalent.
- Experience working at ST3 level or equivalent in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- Strong commitment to the specialty.
- Ability to independently manage patient care.
- Experience providing specialist clinical opinions.
- Understanding of clinical governance.
- Experience teaching undergraduate, postgraduate or junior medical staff.
- Experience with research methodology and/or publications.
- Participation in audit or quality improvement projects.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- MRCOG Part 2 or equivalent.
- RCOG ATSMs or equivalent.
- Management or project leadership experience.
- Experience developing or reviewing clinical guidelines.
- Experience implementing service changes or new technologies.
- Medical education qualification.
- Higher degree.
- Recent research publications.
- Evidence of improving clinical practice through audit.
